Description
REALQUALITY STI-7 is an in vitro diagnostic medical device intended for use by healthcare professionals for the qualitative detection of the MOMP gene and the cryptic plasmid of Chlamydia trachomatis (CT), the porA pseudogene and multicopy opa gene of Neisseria gonorrhoeae (NG), the MgPa gene of Mycoplasma genitalium (MG), the 16S rRNA gene of Mycoplasma hominis (MH), the L23861 repeated genomic sequence of Trichomonas vaginalis (TV), and the urease gene of Ureaplasma urealyticum (UU) and Ureaplasma parvum (UP).
Product Characteristics
Pathogen detection is performed on DNA extracted from urogenital swabs, cervico-vaginal swabs, urethral swabs, urine, seminal fluid, rectal swabs, and oropharyngeal swabs for the diagnosis of sexually transmitted infections (STIs) in patients suspected of, or diagnosed with, infections caused by CT, NG, MG, TV, MH, UU and UP.
The device can be used manually or in association with the automated GENEQUALITY platforms (AB ANALITICA).
REALQUALITY STI-7 is intended as an aid for the diagnosis and monitoring of infections caused by CT, NG, MG, TV, MH, UU, and UP.

Sexually Transmitted Infections (STI) include a large group of infectious diseases. Every year the WHO estimates the onset of millions of new cases (http://www.who.int/), 357 million related to at least 1 of the following 4 pathogens: Chlamydia trachomatis, Neisseria gonorrhoeae, Treponema pallidum and Trichomonas vaginalis.
About thirty different STIs are known, caused by over twenty types of microorganisms including bacteria, viruses, protozoa and parasites. If not diagnosed in time and treated properly, these diseases can lead to serious complications affecting the female and male reproductive system (infertility, abortions, ectopic pregnancies, urethral strictures, tumours, etc).
